South Sefton Clinical Commissioning Group (SSCCG) is made up of local doctors, nurses, practice staff and member of the public, who are well placed to know the health needs and views of people living in the area.

SSCCG brings together 33 doctor’s surgeries covering an area from Hightown in the north, Bootle in the south and Melling and Lydiate to the east.

Their helpline and website are specifically designed to support blokes when life is tough and help you sort your head out. You may have seen them promoting themselves at local events such as The Crosby Music Festival and Southport Rocks.

Health Outreach Advisers run regular advice sessions in the surgeries below, where you will receive free confidential and impartial advice on most issues. Referrals can be made by your GP or health professional.

Located in 11 GP surgeries and health centres across Sefton this service can support you to manage your current problems.

Activity programmes that improve self-esteem and confidence, positive outlook and offer new interests and skills.

Creative Alternatives
Creative Alternatives is an arts-on-prescription programme aimed at Sefton residents experiencing mild to moderate depression, stress or anxiety and may be accessed by referral from a healthcare professional or by self referral. Clients have free six-month membership of one of three core arts and crafts workshops operating throughout the year in, Formby, Southport, and Bootle and, in addition, may attend group outings and special guided cultural events throughout Merseyside.

Active Sefton
The Active Lifestyles Programme aims to provide you with the opportunity to live a more active and healthy lifestyle

There are 3 levels of support available, the Active Lifestyles Team will choose the most appropriate level for you.

There is a 14-week supported programme of physical activity, at a subsidised cost, under the guidance of an Active Lifestyles Referral Officer.

All physical activity programmes are geared towards your individually desired goals, and also gives you access to specific “Active Sefton” sessions to encourage group support and help you to meet new friends.

Ask your GP or Health Professional to refer you onto the Active Lifestyles Programme active lifestyles programme.

Relax and Revive
A physical activity programme targeting those experiencing mental health problems and supporting them back into physical activity, as they may not have been active for a while. It is a low intensity programme that also has relaxation and a time for socialising. There are currently weekly drop-ins in Sefton, one at Bootle Leisure Centre Tuesday 2-4pm with activity from 2pm-3pm and relaxation from 3pm-4pm and two relaxation drop-ins at Dunes Splashworld in Southport Monday 3-4pm and Wednesday 3-4pm these sessions are both Tai Chi.

Additionally there are activity groups based with mental health organizations.

Wellbeing Sefton

Wellbeing Sefton is a way of linking people who are experiencing stress, anxiety or depression with sources of support in the local community. This is available in South Sefton.

Support can be given to help you develop a sense of control over your own life through building your confidence and self-esteem.

With guidance from the Wellbeing Sefton Co-ordinator you can get involved in new activities.

Possible benefits are increase in self confidence, increase in self esteem, learning new skills, meeting new people.
